Understanding G-Cloud 13

What is G-Cloud 13?

G-Cloud is the easiest way for any company wanting to sell Cloud computing services to any government organisation to do so. It makes it simple for organisations like the NHS to buy your services without having to go through a lengthy process. Without being on this framework, it is a lot harder to sell your services.

What’s the difference between G-Cloud 12 and G-Cloud 13?

G-Cloud 12 and 13 have a lot of similarities, but there is a new Social Value section. This involves suppliers describing how their services contribute to the Government agendas around:

  • Fighting climate change
  • COVID-19 recovery
  • Tackling social inequality
  • Equal opportunity
  • Wellbeing

We can support you in writing your responses to the social value questions.

Do I need to apply if I’m already on the G-Cloud framework?

Yes – applicants can reuse material from previous G-Cloud applications, but it is important you check that they are still correct, and that you have responded to the new section on Social Value.

How do I get onto the framework?

Getting on to the framework requires some work. Firstly, suppliers must register on the Government Digital Marketplace, available at www.digitalmarketplace.service.gov.uk. Then, you need to apply to the framework itself. This involves describing your company, and adding on the services that you would like to sell.

Is G-Cloud 13 right for my organisation?

If you are selling cloud services in the UK and want to as long as you are providing cloud services, and you are a business registered in the UK, you should be eligible to apply for the framework. There are some caveats depending on any financial or legal issues your business may have had.
